Yin-Yang Feminism Discussion Group - Graphic Designer

Hedonisia Hawaii EcoFeminist Community was started in 2004 in the Hawaiian rainforest. Our community was based on ecofeminism and ecotourism as our social and economic foundations.

Though our community was small, the projects we work on have a global reach. We are idealist and pragmatic seeking entrepreneurial and creative solutions to various challenges we face in the world.

In 2018, Hedonisia Hawaii was destroyed by lava flow from the Kilauea volcanic eruption. Undeterred, we continue work on the many creative projects that were born at our pre-volcano community.

There is a one-acre green zone on the property, that did not get covered by lava. This is known as a Kipuka in the Hawaiian language. We are preparing to return to our land by slowly planting and landscaping on our Kipuka.

In the meanwhile, our community is now virtual. Over five hundred volunteers from around the world have worked on the various projects in the Hedonisia Lava to Lotus Portfolio.

We welcome you to be a volunteer on our virtual team choosing a project that resonates with you.

Yin-Yang Feminism

We are looking for a graphic designer who can create variations of the Yin-Yang image for our monthly workshop and discussion group.

Yin-Yang Feminism Workshop If you go to our web page you will see variations of the Yin-Yang image showing the various ways that yin-yang can be interpreted in the Taoist Chinese tradition

We would like to have various interpretations of the image. They can be square or 16 9 aspect ratio.

As the workshop is about yin-yang feminism images should always incorporate a male and a female.

However, they can also incorporate any of the opposing elements of yin-yang.

In Taoist yin-yang philosophy, opposing elements represent complementary forces that create balance and harmony. Here are the most recognized yin-yang pairs and their variations, as found in Taoist cosmology, philosophy, and everyday thought

Classic Yin-Yang Opposites

Female (yin) / Male (yang)Moon (yin) / Sun (yang)Night (yin) / Day (yang)Earth (yin) / Sky or Heaven (yang)Water (yin) / Fire (yang)Receptivity (yin) / Activity (yang)Passivity (yin) / Assertiveness (yang)Darkness (yin) / Light (yang)Cold (yin) / Heat (yang)Soft (yin) / Hard (yang)Chaos (yin) / Order (yang)Consumption or absorption (yin) / Production or emission (yang)Brake (yin) / Accelerator (yang) (applied metaphorically to action)Decay or death (yin) / Growth or new life (yang)

Extended Pairs (From Taoist Texts & Practice)

Winter (yin) / Summer (yang) (seasonal)Intuition (yin) / Logic (yang)Yielding (yin) / Leading (yang) (martial arts, relationships)Downward (yin) / Upward (yang) (movement/metaphor)Inside (yin) / Outside (yang) (body, home)Stillness (yin) / Movement (yang) (meditation, health)Indirect (yin) / Direct (yang)Introversion (yin) / Extraversion (yang)Left (yin) / Right (yang) (symbolism)

In Taoist cosmology, yin and yang interrelate with the five elements as follows

Water and wood are generally more yin.Fire and metal are generally more yang.Earth can act as a balance or transition.

Principles

The opposites are relative—context matters, and what is yin in one situation may be yang in another.Every yin contains yang, and vice versa, symbolized by the yin-yang dot in the taijitu; forces transform into each other cyclically.Balance between opposites leads to harmony; excess or deficiency causes imbalance and disharmony.

These opposites influence art, medicine, martial arts, and daily customs in Taoist-influenced societies. The yin-yang framework remains a profound tool for contemplating balance, change, and interconnectedness in nature and humanity.

You are also invited to attend the Yin-Yang Feminism Meetup Group. It is free to join and meetups are online so you can attend no matter where you live in the world!
