About Wake-Up UK

We’re a not-for-profit civic initiative working to restore trust in UK democracy, reform political funding, and promote sustainable public services. Our campaigns include:

  • Capping political donations and introducing civic vouchers
  • Rebuilding trust in Parliament and public institutions
  • Proposing bold reforms for the NHS, economy, and migration
  • Launching petitions and public engagement tools to drive change

We’ve developed a manifesto without a party—a blueprint for reform that any party can adopt and every citizen can support.

Role Overview

We’re looking for a volunteer website developer to help us build and maintain a clean, secure, and engaging site that showcases our campaigns, hosts petitions, and shares research.

You’ll collaborate with our small team to:

  • Set up and configure a CMS (WordPress, Wix, or similar)
  • Design layouts for policy explainers, petitions, and updates
  • Integrate QR codes, social media, and email sign-up forms
  • Ensure accessibility, mobile responsiveness, and basic SEO
  • Maintain and update the site as new content is added

Skills We’re Looking For

  • Experience with WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, or custom HTML/CSS
  • Familiarity with UX/UI principles
  • Ability to work independently and communicate clearly
  • Passion for civic engagement, transparency, and reform

Bonus if you have experience with:

  • Google Analytics or SEO tools
  • Graphic design or data visualisation
  • Email marketing platforms (e.g. Mailchimp)

What You’ll Gain

  • A chance to shape a national campaign from the ground up
  • Portfolio-worthy work on a meaningful public-interest project
  • Flexible hours and full creative input
  • Recognition on the website and in campaign materials
