About Us
The Muslim Lived Experience Network (mlxn.org.uk) is a lived experience-led organisation committed to supporting individuals experiencing mental health challenges. We offer faith-informed peer support interventions, lived experience-related workshops and events, Islamic talks on mental health related topics, hospital ‘Muslim Faith Kits’, training, consultation, ad hoc support and signposting.
Our team is made up of dedicated volunteers united by a shared mission to attain the pleasure of Allah (SWT). We strive to achieve this by bringing peer support and lived experience perspectives to our communities - to educate, reduce stigma, and improve the quality of life for people living with mental health conditions.
Role Purpose
We are seeking a creative and dedicated Volunteer Video Editor and/or Graphic Designer to join our team and help amplify our message and shape our visual identity. You will create engaging digital content that supports our faith-centric, lived experience-led mental health work, promotes our initiatives and communicates our values.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about mental health lived experience, visual design and using creativity to support a purpose-driven, faith-informed organisation.
Key Responsibilities
The role focuses primarily on:
Creating engaging visuals in short video format to bring to life our lived experience-focused mental health resources
Editing an ongoing YouTube series, Brothers Base, that amplifies male lived experience voices and perspectives
Ad hoc support such as social media and promotional posts
Person Specification
Essential Skills & Attributes
- Strong video editing skills (Premiere Pro, Final Cut, Clipchamp, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut, or similar)
- Ability to create clear, engaging, and emotionally sensitive mental-health content
- Experience in editing long-form YouTube videos
- Understanding of tone, pacing, and narrative flow
- Graphic design skills (Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, etc.)
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines
- Alignment with a Muslim-led, inclusive, mental-health informed organisation
Desirable (but not required)
- Lived experience of mental health challenges
- Familiarity with the needs of Muslim and/or marginalised communities
- Motion graphics or animation skills
- Knowledge of YouTube optimisation (thumbnails, tags, SEO basics)
