Job Title: Volunteer Graphic Designer - EdTech Project
Location: Remote (Any GMT +/-3 location, e.g., UK, Europe, Africa)
About Us:
Yunuru is a tech4good organisation dedicated to providing free, high-quality education tailored to the needs of learners in Africa. We are on a mission to empower underserved communities by delivering innovative educational solutions that focus on soft skills, career readiness, and personal development. Our entirely volunteer-based team are proud to be collaborating with a Kenyan university, with the goal of creating a Pilot that will be tested with students later this year.
Role Overview:
We’re seeking a creative and reliable Volunteer Graphic Designer / Illustrator to help bring our learning content to life. This role involves creating simple, engaging visuals to support our Communication Skills pilot program, including header images for each topic or module and occasional illustrations or graphics to enhance lessons. Your work will help make the content more appealing, memorable, and enjoyable for Kenyan university students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create header images for learning modules (approx. 10 modules).
- Design simple illustrations or supportive visuals to be embedded within text-based lessons.
- Ensure all graphics align with our visual style, target audience, and accessibility guidelines.
- Collaborate with the content creator and product team to ensure visuals enhance learning clarity and engagement.
- Produce culturally relevant and context-appropriate imagery for Kenyan university students.
- Deliver files in formats optimised for inclusion in a web-based learning platform.
Requirements:
- Experience in graphic design, illustration, or visual content creation.
- Ability to create clean, accessible, learner-friendly graphics.
- Comfortable working collaboratively and asynchronously, working iteratively based on feedback.
- Passion for education and making a social impact.
Time Commitment:
This is a volunteer role, and we genuinely appreciate any time you’re able to contribute. Our pilot is launching shortly and currently uses placeholder images, so anything you create over the next few weeks will have an immediate impact. As a minimum, we’re looking to replace the 10 module header images. If you have the capacity to go further and create additional topic headers or supporting illustrations within the content, that would be a huge bonus.
