About the Role:
We’re looking for a
UI Designer
with proven experience in
design systems
to join our small, collaborative design team.
You’ll work closely with the
Design Lead
and two other designers to
build, document, and maintain
a unified design system for a
single product
.
This role is hands-on and focused on
Figma-based design system work
— creating components, defining tokens, documenting usage, and ensuring consistency and clarity for our development team.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Design Lead in building and evolving the Design System for our product.
- Create and maintain Figma components, variables, and tokens , ensuring clear structure and scalability.
- Document component guidelines, naming conventions, and usage directly in Figma .
- Collaborate closely with developers to ensure accurate and consistent implementation.
- Handle day-to-day design system maintenance and updates based on feedback and product needs.
- Contribute to visual design refinement to ensure high-quality, cohesive UI output.
Requirements:
- Proven hands-on experience working with or maintaining a design system (please include examples or case studies).
- Expert-level proficiency in Figma — components, variants, auto layout, tokens, and documentation workflows.
- Strong visual design skills and attention to detail.
- Deep understanding of design system concepts such as design tokens, variables, theming, and scalable structures .
- Familiarity with modern libraries like shadcn/ui or similar component-driven systems.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills with both design and development teams.
- Proactive, organized, and comfortable working remotely in a small team.
Nice to Have:
- Understanding of accessibility and responsive design considerations within design systems.
- Previous experience working on SaaS or product-based teams .
Contract Details:
- Part-time freelance (around 20 hours/week) for an initial 6-month contract .
- Potential to transition into a full-time position depending on project needs and performance.
- 100% remote , ideally within European time zones.
