About The Role
We are seeking an experienced UX Production Designer with a strong focus on Design Systems to join our team on a contract basis. This role is pivotal in supporting a large technology client, specifically within the payments team, to develop and maintain a comprehensive design system that streamlines the creation of cohesive, modern, and user-friendly payment experiences. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in component design, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration, ensuring that design guidelines are clear, scalable, and accessible across multiple platforms and devices. This position offers remote work flexibility, with preferred working hours aligned with EST or PST time zones, and runs through June 30, 2026, with potential for extension.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in product design or UX
- 2+ years of direct experience working on design systems as a feature or product designer
- Proven experience contributing to mature design systems, including component creation, documentation, and adoption
- Strong understanding of design system principles, structure, and real-world application
- Experience working with design tokens and system-driven design approaches
- Knowledge of technical constraints and best practices across platforms
- Experience with accessibility standards and inclusive design practices
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Strong writing and documentation skills for guidelines and system documentation
- Comfort working closely with front-end engineering teams
- Expert-level proficiency in Figma, including system structuring and scalability
- Portfolio demonstrating multiple projects with a focus on design systems
- Understanding of how design systems integrate with engineering processes
Responsibilities
- Create robust, coherent, and scalable design system components supporting various devices and platforms
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Design, Engineering, Product, Content, and Research to ideate and deliver thoughtful design solutions
- Partner with engineering teams to ensure accurate implementation of components across web and mobile experiences
- Work with writers and content partners to develop, refine, and maintain comprehensive system documentation and content standards
- Partner with research teams to validate design decisions, ensuring solutions meet user needs and accessibility standards
- Manage incoming requests for updates to components, patterns, and specifications from various teams
- Provide a strong design perspective to translate brand identity into cohesive digital product experiences
- Continuously enhance how the design system is communicated and utilized by designers, developers, and stakeholders
- Help define and evolve processes that support a sustainable, scalable, and well-governed design system
