About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior User Experience (UX) Researcher to join our team and lead comprehensive user research initiatives. In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping product strategy and enhancing customer experiences across Pearson’s AI-powered learning platforms. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including Product Management, UX Design, Engineering, Data Analytics, and business stakeholders to identify learning objectives, reduce uncertainties, and support data-driven decision-making through mixed-method research approaches. Your expertise will be vital in designing and executing studies, synthesizing insights into actionable recommendations, and effectively communicating findings to influence product design, prioritization, and strategic investments. This position offers an opportunity to elevate research operations through rigorous methodologies, compelling storytelling, and advocating for user needs while balancing business goals and delivery constraints. The role is primarily remote, with occasional travel for in-person collaboration with colleagues and customers.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of proven success leading user research projects with demonstrated impact
- Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Psychology, Human Factors, Social Sciences, or related field; Master’s degree preferred
- Strong expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methods, with the ability to select appropriate approaches for different objectives
- Experience designing and executing research plans, including user interviews, surveys, usability testing, and data analysis
- Proficiency with research and design tools such as usertesting.com, survey platforms, Figma, Jira, Qualtrics, Google Analytics, and MixPanel
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams effectively
- Strong communication skills, capable of presenting insights clearly to stakeholders at all levels
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including UX Design, Product Management, Engineering, and Data Analytics
- Knowledge of accessibility and inclusive design practices
- Familiarity with Agile development processes and Continuous Discovery methodologies
- Experience working within the EdTech or Education sectors is a plus
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment and occasionally travel as needed
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of human behavior and customer biases, employing skilled interviewing techniques to uncover underlying needs and inform product decisions
- Responsibly recruit educators, students, and parents, ensuring adherence to privacy, consent, and trust considerations
- Leverage AI tools to scale research efforts, streamline workflows, and synthesize insights across diverse data sources
- Partner with product teams to define and maintain research agendas and roadmaps aligned with strategic business goals
- Develop primary research questions and objectives that address critical knowledge gaps in the product lifecycle
- Select suitable qualitative and quantitative research methods, develop comprehensive research plans, and execute high-quality studies
- Maintain effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams throughout the research process
- Analyze and synthesize research data, producing clear, actionable insights that directly influence product development and strategy
- Advocate for user-centered design principles, influencing product strategy through compelling presentations and reports to senior leadership
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for product innovation
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, privacy, and ethical standards during user recruitment and data collection processes
- Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and shared ownership within teams
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support organizational goals
