About The Role
We are seeking a talented and experienced Staff UX Designer to join our team in a full-time, remote capacity. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a one-of-a-kind project within Lockheed Martin’s Rotary and Mission Systems’ C4ISR team. As a Staff UX Designer, you will be instrumental in designing intuitive, mission-focused user interfaces for next-generation command-and-control systems. Your work will involve conducting user research, creating interaction designs, developing information architectures, and collaborating closely with cross-disciplinary teams, including engineers, AI/ML specialists, and software developers.
The position emphasizes a user-centered approach, ensuring that complex sensor data and analytics are translated into clear, actionable visual experiences that support critical mission workflows. This role also involves establishing design systems, producing detailed documentation, and participating in Agile/SAFe development processes to ensure seamless implementation of design solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Design, Computer Science, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in UX design, preferably within defense, aerospace, or high-tech industries
- Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or similar
- Experience conducting user research, creating personas, and developing user journeys
- Strong understanding of interaction design principles, information architecture, and usability testing methodologies
- Experience working with front-end frameworks like React or Angular is highly desirable
- Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices
- Ability to produce comprehensive design documentation and specifications
- Familiarity with Agile and SAFe development methodologies
Responsibilities
- Conduct stakeholder interviews, contextual inquiries, and develop personas to understand operator needs and constraints
- Create wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes for various dashboards and workflow screens
- Design scalable information architectures, navigation structures, and data visualizations for multiple device types
- Plan and execute usability testing sessions, analyze results, and iterate on designs to enhance user experience
- Collaborate with system architects, engineering teams, and data specialists to ensure design feasibility and performance compliance
- Establish and maintain a reusable component library and style guide aligned with accessibility standards
- Document design specifications, user flows, and acceptance criteria for development teams
- Participate in Agile/SAFe ceremonies to ensure smooth design handoff and implementation
- Maintain and update design system documentation in JAZZ/ELM dashboards
