User Experience Designer

About True Sparrow

True Sparrow is a
product design & engineering services company
. We partner with enterprises and startups across North America and Europe, embedding deeply with their teams as a trusted extension of their organization. We are a small, fully remote team of builders who care about craft and ship work we are proud of.

The Role

We're looking for a talented, systems-obsessed
Design Systems Designer
to work on a complex,
multi-product design system for one of our key clients.
You'll be embedded in a collaborative global team of designers and developers, owning a unified design language that spans multiple products and platforms.

This isn't a single-product role.
It's a whole ecosystem; tokens flowing through multiple surfaces, components flexing across brands, and a style guide that actually guides. You won't be pixel-pushing; you'll be building the foundation everything else is built on.

This is a high-impact, client-facing role. As part of an international team, you should be comfortable taking late-night or early-morning calls.

What You'll Do

  • Shape and own a multi-product design system in Figma: component library, style guide, the whole lot
  • Design a robust token architecture: global → semantic → component tokens, multi-theme, light/dark modes
  • Build complex, production-ready components with well-structured variants, interactive states, and responsive behaviour
  • Use Figma Variables and advanced Auto Layout to create flexible, scalable components
  • Collaborate daily with a cross-functional global team of designers & developers to keep design–dev handoff smooth and sane
  • Write documentation people actually want to read (yes, really)
  • Run audits , spot inconsistencies, and fix things before anyone else notices they're broken
  • Champion the system: become the go-to person for "how should this component work?"

What We're Looking For

✅ Required

  • 5+ years in product design with at least 2 years focused on design systems
  • Expert-level Figma proficiency: Variables, Variants, Component Properties, Auto Layout, all of it
  • Deep understanding of design token architecture: naming conventions, tiered tokens (global → semantic → component), multi-brand theming
  • Proven experience building complex, multi-state component libraries from scratch
  • Thorough style guide experience — typography, colour, spacing, iconography, motion, and accessibility. Not just a colour palette PDF.
  • Strong communicator — able to explain design decisions clearly to both designers and engineers

★ Nice to Have

  • Token Studio experience — this one's a big plus, we love it
  • Experience with design systems spanning 3+ products or brands

Why Join True Sparrow

  • Design challenges that span multiple products, platforms, and brands. No two days are the same.
  • A team that gets it: You'll work alongside designers and developers who respect craft and geek out over systems
  • Remote-first culture
  • Meaningful impact: your system will be the foundation for products used by thousands of people
