About The Role
BigBear.ai is seeking a highly experienced Senior Principal UI/UX Designer to join our dynamic team in a fully remote capacity. This senior-level role is pivotal in shaping the user experience and visual identity across our suite of products and applications. As a Senior Principal UI/UX Designer, you will lead comprehensive design initiatives, from conducting user research and developing prototypes to finalizing high-fidelity designs. You will define overarching design principles and frameworks that promote consistency and scalability across platforms.

Collaborating closely with product managers, engineers, and research teams, you will influence product strategy and ensure that user-centric design remains at the forefront of our development process. Additionally, you will mentor junior designers, elevate organizational design standards, and advocate for design as a strategic driver of innovation and business success. This role represents the highest tier of individual contribution in the design domain, with responsibilities extending to setting vision, influencing senior leadership, and representing design thought leadership externally. Your work will directly impact the usability, effectiveness, and overall quality of BigBear.ai’s offerings in critical industries, helping the company maintain its reputation as a leader in AI-driven decision-making solutions.

Qualifications

• 16+ years of relevant experience in UX/UI design, with a strong portfolio demonstrating leadership in complex product environments
• Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Human-Centered Design, Engineering, or a related field
• Master’s degree in Human-Centered Design and Engineering or related discipline (preferred)
• Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Axure, Pendo, Photoshop, Illustrator, FigJam, and HTML
• Experience with project management and collaboration tools like Jira and Confluence
• Proven leadership experience mentoring junior designers and guiding cross-functional teams
• Strong understanding of mobile and responsive design principles
• Excellent skills in wireframing, prototyping, usability testing, and user interviews
• Exceptional visual design capabilities, including layout, iconography, typography, and color theory
• Ability to translate complex requirements into intuitive, user-friendly interfaces
• Experience in application design, emphasizing technical feasibility and business needs

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end product design efforts, including user research, ideation, prototyping, usability testing, and final design execution
• Establish and maintain overarching design principles and frameworks to ensure consistency across all applications and platforms
