About The Role
We are seeking a talented and experienced Lead UI/UX Designer to join our dynamic team on a groundbreaking project aimed at creating the ‘digital front door’ for Disney. This role offers the opportunity to work remotely with minimal travel, collaborating with top industry talent to develop next-generation interactive experiences based on Disney’s extensive portfolio, including Disney/Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars properties. As a key member of our team, you will lead the design and development of engaging user interfaces and game experiences that are both fun and intuitive. You will oversee the UI team, work closely with project leads and art directors, and contribute hands-on to content creation using Unreal Engine, UEFN, and scripting languages like Verse. Your work will directly influence the way millions of fans interact with Disney’s iconic characters and worlds, shaping the future of Disney’s digital entertainment offerings.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years of game development experience, including at least one shipped game in a Lead or Management role.
- Proficiency in Unreal Engine and/or UEFN, with experience in UMG (Unreal Motion Graphics), Blueprints, and Verse scripting language.
- Experience leading and developing content for multiple gaming platforms, including console, PC, and mobile.
- Strong collaboration skills and experience partnering with cross-disciplinary teams and stakeholders.
- Deep appreciation and understanding of Disney’s IP, characters, lore, and visual aesthetics.
- Proficiency in creating UI mockups and wireframes using Figma or similar tools.
- Knowledge of best practices for designing smooth, engaging, and user-friendly interfaces for games.
- Ability to communicate effectively across teams and translate creative ideas into functional UI systems.
- Educational background with a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Responsibilities
- Design and create compelling UI elements and game experiences that enhance player engagement.
- Lead the UI development process, managing the work of UI designers and developers within a cross-disciplinary team.
- Develop wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to visualize UI concepts and interactions.
- Create UI content utilizing Unreal Engine, UEFN, and scripting in Verse for both development and live service environments.
- Collaborate with art directors to develop and maintain consistent UI style guidelines aligned with Disney’s brand and aesthetic standards.
- Work closely with game developers to design UI/UX systems that optimize gameplay experience and user satisfaction.
- Implement, test, and iterate on UI and UX features based on user feedback and testing results.
- Maintain detailed design documentation to ensure clear communication and project continuity.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to other UI designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.
