Role Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Part Time Web Designer who will support our design and development team in creating visually appealing, user-friendly websites. This role is ideal for someone at the start of their career who has a passion for web design, an eye for detail, and a willingness to learn modern tools and practices.

This is a remote position; however, preference will be given to candidates based in Cape Town, South Africa due to team collaboration and occasional in-person engagements. However, strong applicants from other locations are still encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing website layouts, wireframes, and UI elements
  • Support the production of responsive web pages using HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript
  • Collaborate with the design and development teams on client projects
  • Prepare graphics, icons, and visual assets for digital use
  • Assist in updating and maintaining existing websites
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute creative ideas
  • Keep up to date with current design trends, tools, and best practices

Requirements

  • Qualifications: NQF 4 or higher in Web Design/Development, or a related field
  • Experience: Relevant experience and knowledge in web design or web development
  • Language Proficiency: Native or fluent English speaker with a neutral, clear accent.
  • Essential Soft Skills: Organisational Skills, Communication Skills, Interpersonal Skills, Attention to Detail, Problem-Solving, Adaptability, Discretion & Confidentiality, Proactivity, Ability to work independently and remotely
  • Technical Skills: Basic understanding of HTML and CSS. Experience with WordPress or other CMS platforms. Knowledge of UX/UI fundamentals
  • Software Expertise: Familiarity with design tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD, Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Equipment: Own laptop / PC (with HD camera), headset, reliable high-speed internet connection (minimum 25Mbps download / 25Mbps upload), UPS / Backup generator
  • Environment: Workspace with privacy and minimal noise.
  • Shift Time: Must be available to work from 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM (EST).
