Overview
We are looking for a talented SketchUp Pro Designer with experience in the cabinet-making or fitted furniture industry. The ideal candidate will be able to translate design briefs into accurate, detailed models and produce clear manufacturing and installation drawings using SketchUp Layout.
This role is perfect for a designer who understands cabinetry construction, can interpret bespoke design requirements, and enjoys working flexibly on a freelance basis.
Responsibilities
- Create accurate 3D models of bespoke fitted furniture using SketchUp Pro
- Produce detailed manufacturing drawings and installation drawings in Layout
- Interpret design briefs and collaborate with our team to refine concepts
- Prepare cutting lists, component breakdowns, and hardware specifications (beneficial, not essential)
- Follow Ward-Smith Interiors’ internal workflows and drawing systems (training provided)
Requirements
- Proven experience in cabinet making, joinery, or fitted furniture design
- Strong proficiency in SketchUp Pro and SketchUp Layout
- Solid understanding of cabinetry construction methods, materials, and terminology
- Ability to produce clear, accurate technical drawings suitable for manufacturing
- Strong communication skills and good attention to detail
- Reliable, self-motivated, and comfortable working remotely
- Ability to manage time and meet deadlines
Preferred but Not Essential
- Experience with kitchen, wardrobe, or bespoke joinery design
- Knowledge of component libraries and systemised design workflows
- Understanding of CAD standards or manufacturing processes
