About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Packaging Designer to support ongoing product development and R&D projects focused on thin plastic packaging components for FMCG and food applications.

This is a hands-on, part-time contract role suited to a designer who can work independently and deliver manufacturing-ready designs in collaboration with engineering, R&D, and manufacturing partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop 3D parts and assemblies using SolidWorks
  • Create thin-wall plastic packaging components optimized for manufacturing
  • Produce production and tooling-ready drawings, including tolerances and material specs
  • Apply DFM/DFA principles for injection molding and thermoforming
  • Support prototyping, testing, and iterative design improvements
  • Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and manufacturers
  • Maintain clear documentation and version control

Required Experience & Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks
  • Proven experience in FMCG or food packaging design
  • Strong background in thin plastic component design
  • Understanding of plastic materials (PP, PET, PE, etc.)
  • Experience with high-volume manufacturing processes
  • Ability to work independently as a contractor

Nice to Have

  • Experience with food-contact packaging compliance
  • Knowledge of sustainable or lightweight packaging design
  • Experience working with overseas manufacturers
  • Mechanical engineering or related technical background
