PIPING DESIGNER
DAY / MORNING PYHT
FULL TIME; INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR
Key AccountabilitiesTechnical Expertise & Quality of Work
- Ensure all design and drafting delivers compliance with statutory/regulatory standards and company policies.
- Liaise with engineers to confirm design criteria and ensure alignment with project objectives.
- Monitor progress of design deliverables, taking corrective action as required to meet schedule and cost targets.
- Provide advanced technical support across all engineering design and drafting activities.
- Supervise preparation of preliminary and detailed drawings, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project scope and parameters.
- Review, assess, and provide feedback on outputs from team members and third-party contributors.
- Perform additional tasks as reasonably required by supervisors or management.
Internal Relationships
- Work collaboratively with Design and Engineering teams to support accurate project tracking and execution.
- Participate proactively in internal meetings and discussions.
- Maintain clear, professional communication across all verbal and written interactions.
Continuous Improvement
- Attend relevant industry events and conferences when required.
- Take part in structured training and development opportunities.
- Stay current with emerging standards, practices, and legislative requirements within the discipline.
Business Development
- Represent Verbrec in external meetings when required.
- Promote a positive professional image and contribute to a constructive workplace culture.
HSE & QA
- Comply with all requirements of the Integrated HSEQ Management System.
- Take reasonable care for personal health, safety, and overall fitness for work.
- Act responsibly to ensure personal actions do not compromise the safety of others or the environment.
- Follow reasonable instructions to maintain safe work practices.

Qualifications & Experience
- Strong experience in 2D AutoCAD (required).
- Experience in AutoCAD Plant 3D (Piping) (highly regarded).
- Minimum 8+ years’ experience in the Oil & Gas industry (preferred).
- Diploma/Certification in Engineering or equivalent relevant qualification.
Skills & Attributes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English for effective collaboration and professional correspondence.
- Strong technical grounding in process and piping design.
- Highly developed time management and multitasking capabilities.
- Proficient in discipline-related engineering software applications.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Solid understanding of relevant industry regulations, standards, and compliance requirements.
- Exposure to Australian/New Zealand standards (advantageous).
- Capable of working autonomously across multiple concurrent projects.
- Proficient in developing 2D/3D piping models, layouts, and documentation.
- Able to review and validate drawings in line with Verbrec’s checking procedures and participate in design reviews.
- Demonstrated ability to identify problems, propose solutions, and escalate when assistance is needed.
- Able to work independently within a remote work environment with minimal supervision.
Home Office Requirements:
- Internet Connection : Must be 50 mbps at the least, preferably wired connection for main and backup
- Computer/Laptop: The contractor must have a good working computer with Dual Monitors
- Headsets : The Contractor must have noise cancelling headsets preferably Plantronics Blackwire C320M headsets.
- Dedicated Home Office - Contractors are required to have a dedicated home office free from noise and distractions.
- Web Cam - for meeting purposes
- Must be comfortable in working with Time Doctor/Screenshot Monitor
