Part-Time Web Designer (Squarespace Specialist – Authors & Books)

Wildbound Literary PR – Remote (U.S.-based preferred)

Wildbound PR is a boutique literary publicity and creative agency working with authors, publishers, and storytellers. We’re looking for a part-time, hourly web designer to support ongoing client websites and new builds primarily on Squarespace, with some WordPress familiarity.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with authors, can move quickly on small updates, and can also step in to build clean, effective websites when needed.

Role Overview

This is a flexible, remote position with no guaranteed hours, but consistent workflow across client maintenance and new builds. Hours will scale with project volume.

You’ll be the primary point of contact for website-related needs, communicating directly with clients and executing updates efficiently.

What You’ll Be Doing

1. Ongoing Client Website Maintenance

  • Manage inbound website requests via a Wildbound email
  • Communicate directly with clients to clarify needs
  • Execute quick updates (most tasks take 2–10 minutes), including adding media coverage or book reviews, updating text, images, or links, and minor formatting and layout tweaks

2. Wildbound Website Updates

  • Periodically update Wildbound’s own website
  • Add news, press, and company updates as needed

3. Template-Based Author Website Builds

  • Build streamlined author websites using an established structure
  • Work from client questionnaires and provided assets
  • Communicate with clients to gather and organize materials
  • Execute clean, functional builds (typically 6–10 hours per site)

4. Custom Website Builds (Case-by-Case)

  • Support more robust, fully developed websites depending on client needs
  • Collaborate with our team on structure and creative direction
  • Opportunity to scope and quote projects based on complexity

What We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years experience working in the literary/book industry (authors, publishers, or related)
  • Strong expertise in Squarespace (required)
  • Working knowledge of WordPress
  • Comfortable being client-facing and managing communication directly
  • Strong design sensibility (clean, modern, editorial-focused)
  • Ability to move quickly and efficiently on small tasks
  • Organized, responsive, and reliable
  • Strong problem-solving skills—able to figure things out without heavy oversight
  • Understanding of how websites integrate with email newsletters (Mailchimp, Kit, etc.)

Compensation

  • Hourly (commensurate with experience)
  • Additional compensation available for larger builds (project-based)

Why This Role Works

  • Flexible, remote work
  • Consistent light-touch tasks with occasional larger projects
  • Direct collaboration with authors and a creative team
  • Opportunity to grow with us
  • Work with a vibrant, very cool team

How to Apply

Please include:

  • Portfolio (especially author/book websites)
  • Brief note on your experience working with authors
  • Your hourly rate
  • Availability (typical weekly range)

Pay: $30.00 - $45.00 per hour
