About Waterpro

Waterpro is a wholly South Australian owned and operated business specialising in the design and supply of professional irrigation and pumping solutions. With three locations across Adelaide and over a decade of consistent growth, Waterpro has established itself as a market leader in SA's irrigation industry.

Waterpro's core client base includes local councils, sporting bodies, golf courses, landscape architects, and high-quality trade businesses. The team designs and supplies irrigation systems using industry-leading brands including Rain Bird, Hunter, Toro, Grundfos, Netafim, and Orbit.

This is a business that takes its craft seriously — from conducting irrigation system audits and distribution uniformity (DU) testing for councils, through to designing large-scale systems for sports fields, schools, and commercial landscapes. Waterpro is led by a hands-on director with an ambitious growth vision and a genuine commitment to building a best-in-class team.

About StaffPilot

StaffPilot is an Australian-owned offshore staffing agency that connects high-calibre Filipino professionals with growing Australian businesses. We handle recruitment, onboarding, HR, and infrastructure — so you can focus on doing great work with a great team.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced **Irrigation Designer** to join Waterpro's design team on a full-time basis, working remotely from the Philippines. You will collaborate closely with the Design Manager and internal team to produce professional irrigation designs for a wide range of project types.

This is a technical, hands-on design role — not a general VA position. You will be responsible for producing detailed, job-ready irrigation layouts, plans, and technical drawings that meet Australian industry standards and Waterpro's high-quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities

●    Collaborate with the Design Manager and internal team on job-specific requirements, site constraints, and client briefs.

●    Design and develop irrigation systems for a range of sites including open spaces, sports fields, golf courses, commercial landscapes, and community facilities.

●    Prepare detailed irrigation layouts, plans, and technical drawings using relevant design software (AutoCAD or equivalent).

●    Select appropriate irrigation products and components such as sprinklers, valves, pumps, and controllers from Waterpro's preferred product lines.

●    Calculate water requirements, system pressure, flow rates, and zoning to ensure optimal performance and water efficiency.

●    Review and refine irrigation designs to ensure compliance with industry standards, water regulations, and best practice.

●    Produce accurate material take-offs and component schedules to support quoting and supply.

●    Maintain organised project files and version control across active jobs.

●    Communicate progress, flag design challenges, and respond to feedback in a timely and professional manner.

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Design Expertise

●    Demonstrated experience in irrigation system design for commercial, municipal, or institutional projects (not solely residential).

●    Proficiency in AutoCAD (or equivalent CAD software) for producing scaled, detailed irrigation plans and technical drawings.

●    Strong understanding of hydraulic principles including pressure loss calculations, pipe sizing, flow rate analysis, and system zoning.

●    Ability to calculate precipitation rates, matched precipitation, and water requirements for different turf types and planted zones.

●    Knowledge of sprinkler selection, spacing geometry (triangular and square patterns), and distribution uniformity principles.

●    Familiarity with irrigation product types including rotors, spray heads, drip systems, solenoid valves, controllers, backflow prevention devices, and pump systems.

Project Types (Experience in one or more preferred)

●    Sports fields and ovals

●    Golf courses

●    Council reserves and open spaces

●    School grounds and community facilities

●    Commercial landscape irrigation

Software & Tools

●    AutoCAD (essential)

●    Proficiency with irrigation manufacturer specification sheets and product catalogues

●    Microsoft Office or Google Workspace for documentation and communication

●    Experience with irrigation-specific design tools (e.g., RainCAD, HydroCAD, or manufacturer design software) is a strong advantage

Communication & Collaboration

●    Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

●    Ability to interpret a design brief, ask clarifying questions, and work through revisions based on manager feedback.

●    Comfortable working asynchronously across time zones with an Australian-based team.

●    Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple jobs and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

●    Degree in Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Landscape Architecture, or a related technical discipline.

●    Previous experience working remotely for Australian, US, or Middle Eastern companies on irrigation or landscape projects.

●    Understanding of Australian water regulations, backflow prevention standards, or willingness to learn these on the job.

●    Familiarity with Rain Bird, Hunter, Toro, or Netafim product ranges.

●    Experience producing material/component schedules and bills of quantities.

What You'll Get

●    Full-time, stable role with a respected and growing Australian company.

●    Direct collaboration with an experienced design team — real mentorship, not just task delegation.

●    Opportunity to work on diverse, high-profile projects across sports, municipal, and commercial sectors.

●    StaffPilot-managed employment including competitive salary, leave entitlements, 13th month pay, and dedicated support.

●    A company that genuinely values its people and invests in their development.
