Role Description

Graphic designers play a crucial role in enhancing the
visual clarity

learning effectiveness
of digital course materials.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Visual Content Design

Design slide decks (PowerPoint, Google Slides) with consistent branding, layout, and typography.

Create visually appealing PDFs and Google Docs that are easy to read and navigate.

Use color theory and contrast to highlight key concepts and improve retention.

  1. Learning-Focused Layouts

Structure content to support cognitive load principles (e.g., chunking, hierarchy).

Ensure visual flow guides learners through the material logically and intuitively.

Apply spacing, alignment, and grouping to enhance readability.

  1. Animations & Interactivity

Develop animated sequences to explain complex ideas (e.g., motion graphics, transitions).

Use tools like Adobe After Effects, Canva, or Google Slides animations.

Create interactive elements (clickable diagrams, hover effects) when supported by the platform.

  1. Infographics & Visualizations

Translate data and concepts into charts, diagrams, and infographics.

Use icons, illustrations, and metaphors to simplify abstract ideas.

Ensure visuals are accessible and inclusive (e.g., alt text, colorblind-friendly palettes).

  1. Brand Consistency

Apply consistent fonts, colors, and styles across all course materials.

Align with the course creator’s brand identity and tone.

Create reusable templates for future modules or lessons.

  1. Collaboration & Feedback

Work closely with instructional designers, subject matter experts, and course developers.

Iterate designs based on learner feedback and usability testing.

Maintain version control and organize assets for easy updates.
