Graphic Designer for Cancer Charity - Volunteer

Help a bold, youth-focused lymphoma charity disrupt cancer with powerful visuals. Lymphoma Out Loud (LOL) raises awareness of the UK's most common cancer in young people — and we need a creative volunteer to bring our mission to life visually across digital and print.

What difference will you make?

Every piece of content we create is a potential life saved. When someone recognises a swollen lymph node because they saw one of our posters, or shares our symptom checker because our social graphic stopped them mid-scroll — that's early detection. That's a faster diagnosis. That's a better chance of survival.

As a small charity, we rely on volunteer talent to punch above our weight creatively. A skilled designer will directly shape how thousands of young people encounter Lymphoma Out Loud — on campuses, in GP waiting rooms, on their phones, and through our growing network of ambassadors.

Your work will

  • Help us reach more young people with potentially life-saving symptom information
  • Strengthen our presence in universities across the UK as we expand our outreach
  • Give our ambassadors the tools and identity they need to represent LOL with pride
  • Make our Know Your Nodes checker more engaging and shareable
  • Ensure our #BeBodyBrave campaign has the visual impact it deserves

Lymphoma is diagnosed every 27 minutes in the UK — but with the right awareness, it can be caught early. Your design skills could be the difference between someone acting on a symptom or ignoring it. That's not something many volunteer roles can offer.

What are we looking for?

We're looking for a creative, self-motivated designer who cares about making a difference. You don't need to have worked in the charity sector before — what matters most is your passion for design and your ability to communicate a bold message visually.

Essential

  • Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) or Canva
  • A strong eye for layout, typography, and colour
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own time
  • Good communication skills and willingness to take creative direction
  • Experience in Graphic design

Desirable

  • Experience designing for social media, print, or campaigns
  • Understanding of accessibility in design (e.g. colour contrast, readable fonts)
  • Interest in health, cancer awareness, or youth engagement
  • Experience with merchandise or brand identity design

Most importantly, we want someone who connects with our mission and brings energy and creativity to the role. If you're a student, recent graduate, or professional looking to build your portfolio with meaningful work — we'd love to hear from you.

What will you be doing?

We are looking for a talented volunteer designer to create bold, eye-catching visual content that helps us disrupt cancer awareness across the UK.

Lymphoma Out Loud is a registered charity on a mission to ensure every young person knows the signs and symptoms of lymphoma — the most common cancer in teenagers and young adults. Founded by Charlotte after her own diagnosis with incurable lymphoma, we're a small but mighty team with a rebel spirit and a growing national reach across universities and corporate partners.

To keep growing, we need creative firepower. You'll work closely with our team to make sure our #BeBodyBrave message lands with real impact. Key responsibilities include

  • Social media graphics and campaign assets
  • Informational brochures and symptom posters for universities, GP surgeries, and community spaces
  • Visuals for our flagship Know Your Nodes symptom checker
  • Ambassador programme identity and merchandise design

This is a flexible, remote-friendly role — ideal for a designer who wants their skills to genuinely make a difference.
