About the Role
The Accessibility Graphic Designer is a vital member of the Corporate Innovations division, responsible for integrating inclusive design practices within the company's digital and visual assets. Reporting to the Director of Content Visual Design, this full-time exempt position offers the opportunity to influence how FranklinCovey’s products and communications are accessible to diverse audiences, including individuals with disabilities. The role involves auditing, enhancing, and documenting accessibility features within design systems, advocating for inclusive methodologies, and embedding accessibility considerations throughout the entire design process. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including developers, UX writers, and product managers, to ensure accessibility is a fundamental aspect of product development. This position emphasizes proactive testing, continuous improvement, and effective communication of the impact of inclusive design efforts. The role is remote, providing flexibility to candidates across the contiguous United States, with a salary range of approximately $61,324 to $70,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
Qualifications
Minimum of 3+ years of experience in visual design, with a portfolio demonstrating accessible design workDeep understanding of accessibility standards such as WCAG 2.2 and PDF/UA (PDF/X-UA)Proficiency in industry-standard design tools including Adobe InDesign, Acrobat Pro, Illustrator, and FigmaExperience remediating and tagging PDFs for screen reader compatibilityAbility to manage multiple projects in a collaborative environment with excellent attention to detailFamiliarity with localized content design workflows and toolsExperience conducting accessibility audits using testing tools like PAC 2021, Axe, NVDA, JAWS, or VoiceOverStrong communication and presentation skills for training and advocacyProactive mindset with a focus on continuous learning and improvementResponsibilities
Audit and enhance UI components within the design system to ensure compliance with accessibility standards, focusing on aspects such as color contrast, focus states, and keyboard navigationCreate and maintain clear, actionable documentation for accessible design practices within the design systemCollaborate with developers, UX writers, and product managers to embed accessibility considerations from the initial design phase through development and deploymentChampion inclusive design methodologies by promoting user diversity and involving individuals with disabilities in research and testingLead or facilitate accessibility training sessions and knowledge-sharing initiatives to upskill team membersIntegrate accessibility testing and user feedback throughout all stages of the design process to identify and resolve issues earlyMaintain and update accessibility resources, patterns, and tools in response to evolving standards and user feedbackEstablish metrics and reporting mechanisms to measure the effectiveness of accessibility initiatives and communicate successes to stakeholders
