About the job
HAKI TEAM, we're hiring!
Freelance Visual & Deck Designer.
The kind of person who turns "nobody gets our product" into "shut up and take my money."
About Haki Team
We're a squad of designers, nerds, and startup lovers who build visuals and strategies that make people say "ok wow", not "nice, I guess." We're not a polished agency. We're a small team that lives between coffee, Figma, Blender, and endless brainstorming sessions, using design as a tool to grow startups, not to decorate them.
We work with hardware and deep tech startups across Europe, the kind of companies building robots, medical devices, energy systems, and technologies most people don't even know exist yet. We take their insanely complex products and turn them into visuals that move real metrics: funding, conversions, trust.
We're building something ambitious. If you want to get your hands dirty with real hardware, tough deep tech, and founders who are literally inventing the future, and you're not afraid of a few million polygons, you'll probably feel right at home here.
A few examples of your responsibilities
- Design investor pitch decks that don't just look good, they tell a story so clear that a non-technical VC walks out ready to wire money. Slides are your medium. Narrative is your weapon.
- Create infographics and data visualizations that turn dense technical data, competitive landscapes, market maps, and product architectures into something anyone can understand in seconds.
- Develop 2D illustrations and visual systems that explain how complex hardware and deep tech products work.
- Shape and evolve Haki Team's own visual language across decks, proposals, and client-facing materials. You'll have a direct hand in how we look to the world, and yes, that's a big deal.
What we look for
- Storytelling instinct. You don't design slides or infographics, you build narratives. A great deck isn't 20 pretty pages. It's a story with tension, rhythm, and a punchline. You take a founder's chaotic vision and turn it into a visual arc that keeps people hooked from slide 1 to the last CTA.
- Design craft. Layout, typography, color, hierarchy, spacing, these aren't details to you, they're the whole point. You obsess over alignment the way other people obsess over coffee.
- Visual translation. You take something complex, a technical process, a dataset, a competitive landscape, and make people go "oh, THAT'S how it works." Infographics, diagrams, illustrated flows, data charts.
- Curiosity . Robotics, MedTech, aerospace, energy, IoT; you actually want to understand the tech before you design anything about it.
- Charisma . You present your work with energy. You walk founders through your choices, you push back when something doesn't work, you bring ideas to the table without being asked. You're not a silent executor, you're the kind of creative partner people want in every meeting.
- Drive . Tight deadlines, fast feedback, rapid iterations, that's not stress for you, that's flow state.
- Team spirit . You take feedback well and give it honestly. You support the best idea, not your idea. You don't ghost when things get intense.
- Proficiency in English and/or Italian . Clear, professional communication in at least one. Both is a plus.
Nice-to-have
- Experience designing pitch decks for startups, especially in fundraising contexts.
- Familiarity with data viz tools beyond static design. Background in editorial design, information design, or visual journalism.
- You've worked with technical founders and know how to extract a story from someone who speaks in acronyms.
- Motion design basics, enough to make a deck or infographic feel alive.
What we offer
- Insane projects. Not corporate decks with stock photos. Robots, medical devices, tunneling machines, wireless EV charging. Tech that's shaping the future. The portfolio you build here is genuinely one of a kind.
- An early seat at the table . We're growing. Joining now means founding core, with real say in how we work, what we build, where we go.
- Creative ownership . You're not the person who receives a Google Doc and makes it pretty. You shape the narrative, design the system, from day one.
- Competitive pay. Per-project or retainer, we'll figure it out. We're a startup, but we don't do "exposure."
- Total flexibility . Remote-first, async-first, sweatpants-first. Output over hours. Always.
Commitment & contract
Freelance. Flexible, project-based or ongoing collaboration.
Location
Remote. We're based in Turin, Italy
Before you apply
Haki Team is small and fast. We're ambitious about quality and we hold ourselves to a high standard. Tight deadlines, direct feedback, full ownership expected.
If that excites you, keep reading. If it scares you, no hard feelings.
How to apply
No 3-page cover letters. No "I am a dynamic and proactive professional." Here's what we need:
- Your portfolio (link or PDF). Show us your best work. Bonus points for anything technical or deep tech-related.
- A short message (10 lines max): who you are, why Haki Team interests you, and the project you're most proud of.
- Your favorite anime or cartoon, and why. Not a trick question. We just want to know how you think about storytelling and visual style. Plus, we need new recommendations.
