Job Description

We are looking for a highly creative and detail-oriented Freelance Pet Product & Packaging Designer to support our team on a project-based, part-time basis. The ideal candidate has strong experience in consumer product design—preferably within the pet industry—and is able to turn concepts into fun, practical, and manufacturable products.

In this role, you will design pet toys, treats, and seasonal collections (e.g., Christmas, Halloween, Travel, Summer), as well as packaging that aligns with brand identity and retail requirements. This position is perfect for designers who thrive in a flexible environment and enjoy creating products that bring joy to pets and pet owners.

Key Responsibilities

• Create innovative product concepts and packaging for pet toys and treats based on seasonal, cultural, or thematic campaigns.
• Translate client or internal briefs into sketches, mood boards, 3D mockups, and production-ready files.
• Collaborate with sales, R&D, and marketing teams to understand functional needs, branding direction, and retailer requirements.
• Ensure the designs meet practical, safety, and material-related considerations, suitable for mass production.
• Develop packaging that follows brand guidelines and meets regulatory and retail standards (e.g., Costco, PetSmart, e-commerce).
• Provide timely revisions based on internal and client feedback.
• Work independently while maintaining consistent communication and meeting project deadlines.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Graphic Design, or related fields.
• 3–5+ years of experience in product or packaging design (pet industry experience is a strong asset).
• Proven portfolio showcasing consumer product and packaging work.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign; experience with 3D modeling (e.g., Blender, SolidWorks, Fusion 360) is a plus.
• Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and product feasibility.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver high-quality work on time.
• Passion for pets and awareness of pet owner behavior and market trends.
