Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced
Dry Fire – Detection & Alarm Designer

to support building services projects through the end-to-end design of fire detection, alarm, and occupant warning systems. This is a fully remote role working with an international team on commercial and institutional projects.

Position Overview

The role is responsible for delivering compliant and fully coordinated fire detection and alarm system designs across a range of building types. The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of relevant standards, system architectures, and integration requirements.

This position focuses specifically on
fire detection, alarm, and occupant warning systems

and does not include sprinkler or suppression system design.

Key Responsibilities
System Design – Detection & Alarm

  • Design conventional and addressable fire detection and alarm systems in accordance with applicable standards
  • Determine detector types, spacing, and placement based on building layout, occupancy, and environmental factors
  • Design occupant warning systems including sounders, strobes, and voice evacuation systems where required
  • Develop cause-and-effect (C&E) matrices defining system logic and integration with building services
  • Specify fire alarm panels, control equipment, and associated devices
  • Produce coordinated CAD/Revit drawings including layouts, schematics, risers, and schedules

Authority, Monitoring & Integration

  • Prepare documentation for authority approvals and compliance submissions
  • Specify and coordinate fire alarm monitoring requirements with nominated providers
  • Integrate fire systems with mechanical, electrical, and building management systems
  • Develop commissioning documentation including testing and verification plans

Documentation & Project Support

  • Maintain design documentation, revision control, and records
  • Collaborate with project teams to resolve technical queries and align on project requirements
  • Provide support during installation, commissioning, and handover phases
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and project specifications

Qualifications & Experience
Essential

  • Degree or diploma in electrical, electronics, fire protection, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum 4–6 years of experience

in fire detection and alarm system design
- Strong knowledge of fire detection and alarm standards and regulatory requirements
- Experience preparing cause-and-effect matrices, system documentation, and technical drawings
- Proficiency in
AutoCAD

(Revit/BIM experience is a plus)
- Familiarity with major fire alarm systems and panel technologies
- Strong English communication skills for remote collaboration

Highly Desirable

  • Industry accreditation in fire system design (or equivalent certification)
  • Experience working on international building projects and authority approvals
  • Knowledge of voice evacuation systems
  • Experience in BIM coordination and clash detection workflows
