About Rukmer:
Rukmer Inc.
is a U.S.-based drone startup developing a modular drone platform that enables users to swap payloads and sensors — such as thermal, zoom, and night-vision modules — on a single base drone. Our mission is to make drones more adaptable, cost-efficient, and scalable across industries like security, construction, and energy.
Position: CAD Designer (Drone Hardware)
Location: Remote
Role Overview:
We are seeking a skilled CAD Designer to design and refine the mechanical structure of our drone — focusing on lightweight design, modularity, and manufacturability. You’ll work closely with our electronics and engineering team to bring our modular drone from concept to reality.
Responsibilities:
• Develop detailed 3D CAD models of the drone frame, arms, camera bay, and mounting systems.
• Design modular payload and camera bay structures that support hot-swappable attachments.
• Integrate electronic components (flight controller, PCB, power system, sensors, camera modules) into the mechanical layout.
• Optimize designs for weight distribution, balance, and cooling.
• Prepare manufacturing-ready files (STEP, STL, DXF) for 3D printing or CNC fabrication.
• Collaborate with the PCB/electronics team to ensure precise mechanical-electrical integration.
Qualifications:
• Proficiency in Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or similar CAD tools.
• Prior experience designing drones, robotics, or UAV components.
• Understanding of aerodynamics, structural mechanics, and materials (carbon fiber, aluminum, polymer composites).
• Ability to design mounting solutions and enclosures for electronic components.
• Strong communication and iterative prototyping mindset.
Nice to Have:
• Experience with 3D printing or rapid prototyping.
• Familiarity with thermal management and shock-resistant design.
• Passion for UAVs or prior contribution to a drone project.
Deliverables:
• Full 3D CAD assembly of drone frame and modular bay.
• Exploded views and dimensional drawings.
• Manufacturing files and documentation for prototype build.
Compensation:
Unpaid Opportunity for long-term collaboration or transition into a core design role as the company grows.
