About The Role
The Architectural Designer III plays a crucial role in creating detailed schematic and architectural drawings, managing project designs across various construction initiatives including new builds, remodels, renovations, and specialized projects. This position involves collaborating with internal teams and external consultants to develop innovative and compliant design solutions. The Architectural Designer III will assist in researching project requirements, planning, and code compliance, ensuring that all designs meet regulatory standards and project specifications. Additionally, they will review and interpret building department comments, making necessary corrections or challenging discrepancies, and oversee outside architectural firms during ground-up construction projects. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, project management skills, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture. A minimum of three years of experience in architectural design within an architectural firm is required. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, Photoshop, and the Office Suite is essential, along with advanced skills in REVIT. Experience with healthcare, commercial projects, and familiarity with OSHPD 3 / HCAI standards is highly desirable. Candidates must have a working knowledge of the latest editions of the California Building Code (CBC) and municipal permitting processes. A valid Class C California driver’s license, proof of liability insurance, and a clean driving record with no suspensions or points in the past two years are mandatory. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to multitask, and excellent communication skills are vital for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Produce accurate schematic and architectural drawings, incorporating standard specifications and addressing redlines, while coordinating work across teams.
- Assist in reviewing submittals, shop drawings, and responding to Requests for Information (RFIs), as well as preparing instruction documents (OSI's) for plan or work modifications during construction.
- Establish and maintain productive working relationships with team members, consultants, and government agencies, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Coordinate project drawings and resolve conflicts or discrepancies with team members and external stakeholders.
- Maintain an organized filing system for project documentation and drawings.
- Conduct field measurements to support design development and project planning.
- Research project requirements, building codes, and standards to ensure compliance and innovative design solutions.
- Manage outside architectural firms and consultants during ground-up construction projects, providing supervision and guidance as needed.
- Participate in special projects, including detailed project research, planning, and design development.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support project success and organizational goals.
