The mission statement of this project is "[To] stimulate the animation community with something fresh, funky and trailblazing, and provide much needed work to deserving talent….hires will be primarily underrepresented, working class animators who will have the chance to share their stories vicariously through a fun cast of characters, as well as utilize their talent to help build a commercially successful animated series."

PRODUCTION HAS NOT STARTED YET!
This role (“2D Character Designer”) is solely for vetting purposes, exposure, and pre-production buzz for the project. Production is currently scheduled to begin in early 2026. Once production begins, California-based applicants will be prioritized, although this is not a disqualifier.

Role Description

This is a remote position created to vet 2D Character Designers. Once production begins, 6-7 highly creative industrials will be brought on to help build a "proof of concept" for
Damian Ghostkeeper
. If you were to move forward with this role, you will be responsible for developing character designs and concept art for a humorous, dark, fantasy setting. Applicants must have strong knowledge of the 12 principles of animation, and know which design elements do what in various contexts; these include follow throughs, overlaps, squashes and stretches, and secondary actions. An integral to the pre-production process, you will provide visual development support for the animation team and your input must bedazzle the look, feel and visual storytelling aesthetics of
Damian Ghostkeeper
.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of complex movement in 2D animation.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing character design work; including, but not limited to turnarounds and

  • expression sheets.

  • Proficiency in relevant design software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, ProCreate, Krita)

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

  • Passion for storytelling and visual development
